Found something wrong?
This is the message I most want to receive. If a formula doesn’t match a published standard, a price has drifted out of date, a table row doesn’t compute, or guidance is wrong for your jurisdiction — tell me and I’ll fix it.
To help me act on it quickly, include:
- Which page — the URL is easiest
- What you entered — the dimensions or settings you used
- What the calculator returned and what you expected instead
- Your source, if you have one — a standard, a supplier spec sheet, or your local code
Corrections get made to the page and the review date at the foot of it gets updated. I’d rather be corrected than be confidently wrong in front of someone about to pour a slab.
Requesting a calculator
If there’s a tool you keep needing and can’t find a decent version of, that’s genuinely useful to know. Several of the calculators here exist because the alternatives got something important wrong.
Tell me what you’re trying to work out and what the existing options get wrong, and I’ll add it to the list.
What I can’t help with
Project-specific engineering advice. I can’t tell you what thickness your slab should be, how deep your footings need to go, or whether a design is adequate. Those depend on soil conditions, loads, local code and site factors that can’t be assessed over email, and getting them wrong has real consequences. Speak to a licensed engineer or your local building department.
Quotes or contractor referrals. This site doesn’t sell materials, provide services, or maintain a directory of tradespeople.
